I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for putting together the very detailed tips and resources material as well as the virtual Executive Interview Coaching Lab Sessions.
I really appreciate you recognizing the need and filling the gap.
Attending your session, definitely made me realize that I was indeed not used to telling my story.
I did not have a prepared pitch to represent my many years of experience or to highlight what I bring to the table. That was the biggest aha moment for me.
And it did trigger me to go back and review my history in order to highlight some of my most impactful contributions. Preparation for the interview was a combination of better understanding of the company, by reviewing the material you shared below as well as actually digging into the online technical learning material, as well as spending time aligning my key contributions to the company values.
It was a tricky balance to give enough information without rambling too long, but giving enough to ensure it was enough to establish above the bar behavior.
In any case, I was a nervous wreck, but completed the loop.
I have learned so much about myself from this process and have definitely gained skills to both think about things in a different way and to represent myself and my story. Practicing my pitch and knowing my story has given me greater confidence and in a larger way, has helped my know my worth. I am a quiet Leader, and humble enough to at times have doubt, but….Now….I know that I will always question myself not because of any deficiencies but because I strive to learn more and do better and I am now confident in my value.

I’ve been promoted internally for the last 6 years from starting hourly to Director level managing a huge team. While I’ve helped to hire many marketers and have delivered results for my company, I am rusty on my own interview skills! What you shared will definitely help me prepare for my interview.
I wanted to provide a few specific points of feedback:
- Including DE&I Content- I appreciate that you mentioned women typically wait until they are 100% qualified to apply while men will apply when they have 60% of the qualifications. I did a little sanity check myself on the roles I’m applying for after this reminder.
- You have great energy! – This session was really a first glimpse into the culture of the kinds of companies to look for. I really enjoyed hearing how you were able to solve a problem and put it into implementation- and work in an environment that helps to support that. That is the part that gets me EXCITED about finding the right company like you have done. Your passion for what you do speaks volumes.
- Plan to Prepare- The suggestion of having STAR responses and scenarios for each leadership principle is helpful.

Hi Siobhan Neilland, A Big Thank YOU! I attended your Executive Interview Coaching Lab session today and I instantly connected with what you were trying to say. I would like to bring it to your notice that the work you are doing is a boom for leadership candidates like me. I heard all your points and the scenarios where people might have impostor syndrome. I would like to add one more which might help many others if you include this in your story.
People who stay in abusive relationships for an extended period of time would have been belittled for so long that they won’t realize how worthy they are and how capable they are and they fail in presenting themselves in interviews though they are 200% capable. I am coming out of such a relationship. I was there for 14 years and never interviewed for any company in the last 15 years as I was dealing with other things in my personal life. I have won the cruelty case in the USA [Apr 28th 2022] and got full custody of my child and filed cases for domestic violence in India. I am spreading awareness and trying to bring awareness about these types of issues. I have attended multiple counseling sessions/sat in multiple workshops with other victims in the last several months for my PTSD situation.
Your Executive Coaching might help many others candidates and might help change lives if you include this part in your coaching.

Hi Siobhan — I wanted to thank you for leading the Executive Interview Coaching Session today. I’m fortunate to be gearing up for the interview Loop for a position that is tremendously exciting. I especially appreciated the emphasis you put on selling ourselves and letting our passion (for the position and company in general) come through in the stories we tell. I’m a jazz musician by trade…..which means I am most comfortable when I know what key we’re in, who the composer is, the genre of song, and perhaps some background on some of the other musicians in the group.
The actual music that is made happens by using the ears and eyes and reacting to what is happening on the stage. The emphasis you placed on telling our story and not trying to out-think was spot on and reinforced how I’ve gone about preparing for this process.

Hi Siobhan: I attended your SER Executive Interview Coaching Lab presentation today. I admit that I went in a little apprehensive, but it was awesome. I’m one of those people that have rarely interviewed and rely on reputation. Frankly, I wasn’t looking to change positions, but after researching some new companies way of AI/ML cloud strategy, it really got my mouth watering.
